“Failure” is not always a dreaded word, it can always be the stepping stone for greater success and here we discover some famous characters in the story that were not always successful.
Most people talk about fear of failure, without knowing specifically what failure means exactly. The psychologist Michael Michalko, prefers to talk of “different results” rather than “failures.”
The expert commented: “Failure is just a word that humans use to assess a given situation. Instead of fearing failure, we learn that failures and errors are the way to learn and grow. “
In his latest article, Michalko was encouraged to review the “failures” of some of the great characters of history, to imply that these can be exploited. We present some of them below:
Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein is considered the most prominent scientist of the twentieth century. Einstein did not speak until age 4 and did not learn to read until age 7, in fact, their teachers and parents thought he was mentally retarded, slow and antisocial. He was expelled from school and had trouble entering the University. After graduating, no teacher recommended him for a job.
Abraham Lincoln
Considered today as one of the great leaders of the United States, Lincoln’s was not an easy life. He started numerous companies, went bankrupt twice and was defeated in 26 campaigns before he assumed public office.
JK Rowling
Rowling is most famous for writing the Harry Potter saga. But before she succeeded, she had almost no money, suffered from severe depression and was raising her son alone while attending school. She is currently considered one of the richest women in the world.
Walt Disney
Disney collects billions of dollars today in movies and theme parks around the world, but Walt Disney had many personal failures. He was fired from a newspaper because “he lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” He had several businesses, which ended in failure and spent periods of bankruptcy.
Ludwig van Beethoven
In his student years, Beethoven was very awkward with the violin and did not practice much. While composing his own music, their teachers had hoped and thought would not succeed.
Stephen King
The first book by this author: Carrie, received 30 rejections and made King down the arms. His wife encouraged him to keep trying their luck. Today is one of the best-selling authors of all time.
Bill Gates
Gates left Harvard University and began a business with Paul Allen (now co-founder of Microsoft), which ended in failure. Fortunately they did not surrender and then created Microsoft, one of the world’s largest companies.
Vincent Van Gogh
During his lifetime Van Gogh sold only one painting in exchange for very little money. It is said that nearly starved to end its nearly 800 works. Today each of these is worth millions of dollars.
